Amy, welcome to the show. It’s a pleasure. I love ya. We met at the New Media Summit, and we spent some time together, and she and Carl are great people, I love them. Amy, tell us your story, how it all happened.
Amy Huentelman: Awesome. Thank you Art so much for having me. I’m so happy to be here with you. So what do I feel inspired to share right now in this moment is that, when I was 20, I had an amazing epiphany in a very dark moment. And it was at a time Art when I was disconnected from people, I was feeling lost and just, you know, in a very unhappy place. And I remember I was in my room with the lights out, dark, and I was just sitting there, and let’s just say I had a really good cry. And after the sobs kind of subsided, it was very quiet. And in that moment, it was the first time I heard my inner guidance say to me: “You don’t have to live like this. There’s a better way.” And I had the expectation that that was true. It felt true. I believed it, I trusted it. And I started listening, and I was guided to read books that were teaching me that I could shift my reality, changed my reality, create a new experience just by changing the way that I would see things by using creative visualization. So I started practicing these techniques. And within a few years, I met the love of my life, my best friend. A few years later, I manifested living in the Virgin Islands, and I was acting onstage under the stars on the ocean. I mean, it was beautiful and amazing, and that was my dream to act on stage. From a young girl, I’ve always had this desire to express myself. And then moving forward, things got hard. I started running into this energetic wall that seemed so real and I kept asking, what is this thing that’s holding me back? Because I knew there was more for me. I knew I could do more, but I kept holding myself back. And then after living in the Virgin Islands for a while, I got this calling to move to New York City. And that was about after seven years of living on the Island of St. Thomas. And because when I was 20, I got that expectation that I could trust that inner guidance, even when it didn’t make sense for me to move to New York City. I mean, my life was beautiful in the Virgin Islands. The love of my life was there, I was acting on stage. I mean, it was like living in paradise. Why would I move to New York City? I didn’t know anyone there, I didn’t really know what I was going to do or anything, and people told me I was crazy. Well, sometime for me to actually go from the first thought that I had was like a couple of years, talking about it, feeling into it, and finally I went.
I stayed with a friend of a friend in Queens, and I thought when I got there that they would help me find a place to live, but I was completely on my own, but I had just trusted my guidance. And people told me all these things like, Oh, you’re never going to find a place to live. It’s so hard to find a place there in New York, it’s so hard, blah, blah, blah, blah blah. But I trust it. And within a week, I had a place to live. I was in an acting workshop cause that was my love at the time. And life was good, I was meeting people, and I was doing my thing. But when I had that guidance living in the islands to go to New York, my ego self, I have to be honest, really thought, Oh, I’m going to make it big in the acting world because that was my dream at the time. But my higher self was telling me, you know, there’s something more for you there. So I wasn’t there long but after being there some time and being in some acting workshops, I was reading through backstage, that’s the newspaper in New York city to get auditions. And there was an Ad in there to become a hypnotherapist. And I had studied this type of thing, in school, and I’d always been fascinated with the minds and how it works. And I called them up and they said: “Oh, your timing is perfect. We start tomorrow.” So I dove right in, and that was the beginning of my healing journey to really go deeper into those blocks that were holding me back.
Art Costello: Well, let me cover this. Leave St. Thomas, head to New York, crazy, my dream has always been to go to St. John’s and have a place on St. John’s. I love the Virgin islands, I just love it. So when you say you left, there I go, okay. But the bigger picture for me is trusting your inner self.
Amy Huentelman: Yeah.
Art Costello: Were you always able to do that? Or is there something that happened to you that gave you that strength to listen to your inner voice?
Amy Huentelman: I think it just came naturally to me, but in the earlier years I thought it was just like a whim. I didn’t really know how to access it, and today I’ve learned to just live from that voice all the time.
Art Costello: I guess what I want my audience to hear is, did you do anything specific to access it? I mean, meditation, that type of thing.
Amy Huentelman: Okay. Yes. So what I learned through my healing journey, I started as a hypnotherapist, and I studied all different types of healing modalities, was that the reason that I kept hitting that wall was because of a few things. First, I had this programming in my subconscious mind that was in the way of me being who I was choosing to be, so that was one thing that was getting in the way. The other thing I learned was that I was holding this cellular memory in my body that was also getting in the way. And the third thing I have found out, discovered on my own is that I was disconnected from who I truly am. So what I have learned is that, we know we’re not the mind and we’re not the body, where the spirit or the soul, and we come through with our awareness, and where we place our awareness is how we perceive our world. And most of us are conditioned to be in our head all the time thinking. And when we’re in our head all the time thinking, we’re actually disconnected from who we truly are. I call that our brilliance, our inner guidance. We can’t hear that when we’re in our head thinking all the time. And that’s where most people live. That’s where I lived all the time. And in that place, I experienced not only struggle but extreme doubt, self-doubt. It was painful self doubt, and fear, and worry like crazy. And then what I have learned, Art, is that we can actually shift from being in our head to being in our body.
And what I’m talking about here is different than just being grounded, okay? So there’s a lot of techniques out there ground you into the earth where you feel better. But I’m talking about getting our awareness out of our head and bringing it down into our body, underneath your feet, and just by shifting your awareness. And I suggest, offer it to the next time you are feeling scared or any emotion that doesn’t feel good, and I’m speaking to your listeners as well. You can try this out and see how that really does work. If you experience anxiety for example, that means you’re in your head and you’re thinking about something that’s causing that anxiety. The first thing to do is to get out of your head simply by bringing your awareness down into your feet. And you can sit down, and it’s best to have bare feet on the floor, put your awareness underneath your feet, and keep doing, and start breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth. And you’ll know that you’re really there when you cease to have any thoughts, and then you’re going to be calm into a very peaceful place. People think that we have to be in our head to think, we really don’t. It’s best to be on our body, our body thinks.
Art Costello: Wow. I mean, I deal a lot with people being in their heads. And as we all know, fear and anxiety are probably the two biggest stoppers in human kind. I mean, it stops people from realizing who they truly are and all that. And for me personally, I’ve always associated faith, I always have faith. I just know that everything’s always going to work out the way it’s supposed to. That’s my kind of thinking. But let’s take fear, something about fear because this is a very concrete thing. I used to say I’m fearless till somebody said to me: “If I told you to walk across the Grand Canyon on a tightrope, would you do it?” And I said: “No.” And they said: “Then you’re not fearless, because you have a fear of doing that.” And I said: “I’m never going to say I’m fearless again.”
Amy Huentelman: Well, okay, that’s a big crazy idea if you ask me. But what is meaningful for me, and what I would really like to assist people with is getting over that fear of what is calling us forward. So that was my greatest pain and fear for a really long time because I had this calling to speak. So I got to New York City, and another amazing, beautiful thing happened, I have to share this, and this is what really happens when we follow our divine path. Spirit is with us, we’re not alone. The angels are with us, we are greatly supported. The universe has really got our back, but we just got to pay attention and listen. So I was in the acting world for a while, and I was also learning these hypnotherapy and doing healing. And the acting thing was really my dream for up until then. I mean, I couldn’t have imagined doing anything else, but I also felt like, you know, my heart is taking me in this direction of healing and that felt good, but I was like, how can I let this thing go? It was like God put that desire for me literally overnight, Art. So my decision was easy in that moment, I didn’t have to suffer over the loss of this dream that I had, it literally like left me. So I was able to fully step into the healing work that I was meant to do. And now I forget where I was, sorry.
Art Costello: We were talking, I had said to you about going across the Grand Canyon, and you told me–
Amy Huentelman: Oh, thank you, yes, yes, yes, yes. Thank you. Thank you, that’s it. So I had this calling, because soon after I lost my desire to do any acting anymore, and I just followed my calling to do this healing work, and I started going within more and more, and getting more in tune with who I truly am on the inside, and listening to this voice. This is about 10 years ago, I started getting this most amazing, beautiful downloads of inspiration, and insight to share with people about how they can be happy, joyful, and free. And I started sharing that on some videos, but every time I would get up to the video, it was so hard for me because I had such fear. So this is the type of fear that I’m talking about that’s important that we get over. It’s not important whether you want to walk on a tightrope on the grand Canyon.
Art Costello: I mean, it is drastic, and I guess that their point was that it was drastic. But is there different levels of fear, do you think there–
Amy Huentelman: Yes, I do. It’s been my experience, yes, for sure. And I have experienced the extreme, extreme, extreme, where I literally thought I was going to have to get out of my body. And I’m glad I had that experience because now when I sit with people, no matter where they are on the spectrum, I know I can guide them into place out of that fear. So what I have learned is so beautiful, it’s my passion to teach. My vision is happy people everywhere because I’ve learned the most fantastic news, Art, that we all have the ability to feel good and be happy right now in this moment, right here, we don’t have to wait for anything. And if you knew that you had this ability that you could really access this, that you could allow yourself to feel good and be happy in this moment, the question is, would you say yes to it?
“We all have the ability to feel good and be happy right now, in this moment, right here. We don't have to wait for anything.” - Amy Huentelman Click To TweetArt Costello: Absolutely. I mean, I couldn’t see why anyone would ever say no to that, because I think that there’s certain things that every human desires, and I think one is validation, others love, but then deeper is to be happy and just live peacefully. I think that’s the ultimate goal of all of us.
Amy Huentelman: Absolutely. Because we’ve been taught that in the asking of things, in the getting of things, those things are going to make us feel good and be happy. And if we know that the reason that we are really asking for anything is that in the having of it that is going to make us feel better, that’s going to make us feel good, that’s going to make us feel happy, then why not just cultivate that already from the inside? And we can do that. But it does take getting out of our head, getting out of her head and just coming down into our body, and begin living from our brilliance, and our brilliance is our inner guidance, and listening to this voice. Because when you’re really in your body, out of your head, and you begin to breathe, you will begin to clear any energy that’s in the way of you staying like this. And that’s what I wanted to bring up next because I can guide anyone to enter this place in just a few minutes and they can feel what it feels like to be connected where you feel grounded, you feel safe, you feel secure, you tune into who you are, love, beautiful being. But then the next question is, how do we stay here? Because what keeps us from not being here is, again, what I was saying earlier is those negative programmings that are running in our subconscious mind, that negative mind chatter, and that heaviness that we carry in our bodies. Because from a young child growing through life, into our adult years and beyond, we’re not taught how to process energy and things that happen to us. So if there’s a trauma, if there is an upset, or if there’s a death, or whatever, if we misinterpret things or whatever it is, we store that stuff in our body. And that’s why when we go out in the world, we might be feeling really good, and then something happens and our energy drops, or somebody does something and then it pushes our buttons and we get triggered, and all of a sudden we feel ourselves feeling angry, or sad, or whatever it is. And I’m saying that we can clear that stuff out where we no longer get triggered, or we don’t always get our buttons pushed, and then in this place we can live from who we truly are.
Art Costello: Is that part of that cleansing that you do for people?
Amy Huentelman: Yes. Yeah. The inVigor8.
Art Costello: Can you tell me how it kind of fits in, and operates, and works?
Amy Huentelman: Yes, absolutely, yes. Now the inVigor8 is part of our program, but I have good news that I do have a beautiful process that’s free that I would love to share with your audience if they’d like. So the process is you sit down, close your eyes, and then you just imagine light above your head, okay? And then you put all of your awareness with that light, and then you just, okay, so the listeners who are driving, please don’t do this right now, all right? I have to say that, okay. I’ll come back to this later, just listen to it. But you can sit down anytime, and to do this, it’s so simple. I love when things are simple, but super, super powerful. So don’t let the idea how simple this sounds fool you, really give it a try. So just sit down, close your eyes, imagine a light above your head, and then follow it down to the top of your head, behind your eyes, down into your throat, into your hearts, into your solar plexus, all of your awareness with it, and your lower belly, the base of your spine, and just keep pulling that all the way down through your legs, down into your calves, your ankles, your feet, the bottoms of your feet, and let the light state right there underneath your feet and keep your attention there. And now imagine that light is filling up into your heart, and your heart responds by opening. Just let your heart open, and just let space opened up all around you, and keeping your attention underneath your feet. Just begin to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth (inhale/exhale) like this. And actually you can make a much stronger breath than this, like a candle breath. Just imagine you’re breathing in through your nose, and on the exhale, you imagine there’s a cake in front of you and you’re blowing out all the candles on that cake, and you keep breathing like this, and you’re going to feel the shift. This is just a very introductory thing that I’m sharing, but if you do this, you’re going to feel the shift. All that you can go from any disconnected state, feeling really connected to who you truly are and really good in your body.
Art Costello: Yeah, I felt relaxed is what I was feeling as we were doing that. I felt more relaxed and just (inhale/exhale) good, good, good, so that’s good. But anytime that we do these kinds of things, whether it’d be this, or meditation, or everything, we’re really creating our self-awareness, which in turn really elevates our consciousness. Is that true?
Amy Huentelman: Yes, absolutely. And that’s the whole point of what we’re doing. We out in a beautiful time that we understand that the way we think and feel, and the way we see things that creates our reality. So what we’re doing here is upgrading our consciousness, changing the way we think, and the way we feel, and the way we see things, but not by using the mind simply by shifting our states. Coming into a place of connection where you will begin to see the eyes through your brilliance from your soul self, from your truth.
“Coming into a place of connection where you will begin to see the eyes through your brilliance from your soul self, from your truth.” - Amy Huentelman Click To TweetArt Costello: Yeah. I had a friend who’s from India and she did Reiki with me, and I have never done Reiki. Matter of fact, I have always, and I don’t know if this is — to say, but I’ve never been able to be hypnotized. No one’s been able to hypnotize me. And the closest I ever came was when she did Reiki with me and got me, I don’t think I’ve ever been that relaxed, and just in an altered state maybe is the best way to put it. But is that what we’re doing? I mean, we’re just getting ourselves so in touch, in tune with ourselves that we’re going to this deep, deep place that we normally don’t let ourselves go to.
Amy Huentelman: Yes, yes, absolutely. All hypnosis is self hypnosis, so you can learn how to hypnotize yourself. It’s just a shift in consciousness, it’s really not as difficult as it seems when you relax into it. I mean, we’re being hypnotized all the time. Every time you turn on the TV, you’re being hypnotized. And when you’re driving and you go from A to B, and you were thinking about something else, and you don’t remember how you got there, you’re in a state of hypnosis.
Art Costello: Wow, I’ve done that. I mean, I used to drive a lot and go, how did I get from here to there? And I don’t remember. Then I would feel terrible because I would think, Oh, my God, I could’ve hurt somebody, or something like that. I guess you’re just in this state that you know how to drive a car, but you just don’t remember. Your mind is off in other areas, I guess. I don’t know how to describe it. How does this integrate with the bigger picture of relationships, and working with people, because a lot of people are so tied up in this hubbub world that we live in right now, and if they want to like, I don’t want to use the word escape, I don’t like escape because that means that you’re, if you’re escaping from something then you’re confined by something. So maybe the escape is a good work, I don’t know. But how do people institute this in their daily lives, and into their families, and into their workspaces, their everyday actions?
Amy Huentelman: Yeah, I love that. Because relationships are everything. Relationships are everything. When we feel not good in our body, when we don’t feel good in our mind, it’s not easy to feel good. Sometimes it’s not easy from that place to be, it’s connected, and it’s good to others as we would like to be. So I would say that this is really important in this area because when we get out of our head and come down into this place that I’m speaking of, Art, and we began breathing like this, we clear that cellular memory that has been getting in the way of our relationships and connecting with other people. I’d like to teach you something that’s super powerful. You can’t try it right now cause we’re talking but keep this in mind and do it after because you’re going to feel something really cool from it. So I would suggest in relationships that you’re talking about, it’s not fun and family situations when close relationships or friends when we trigger each other, but that happens. We’re human beings, right? Isn’t that happened in life?
Art Costello: It does.
Amy Huentelman: Okay. But it’s also getting in the way of our joy, and happiness, and the deeper connection that we have with ourselves and other people. So here’s a really cool trick, it’s super powerful. I have clients who would teach this to their kids because it’s so easy, and so impactful. All you do is to stand up, and you look up at the ceiling, and while you’re looking up at the ceiling, you do 20 big candle breaths. Can I demonstrate for you? So you can see what I’m talking about, is that okay?
Art Costello: Yeah.
Amy Huentelman: Okay. So it’s a big breath where you breathe into your nose (inhale), out into your mouth (exhale), Oh, I didn’t mean to make that. Okay, here we go. So you breathe into your nose (inhale/exhale), like that. So the inVigor8 is 8-minute daily energetic cleanse. So just as it’s important to cleanse our physical body, it’s important that we cleanse our energetic body. So you can do this on your own, simply by standing up, looking up at the ceiling and doing 20 big candle breaths. Now you will feel a little dizzy and a little bit light headed, but that means that it’s working, but it will dissipate very quickly. So do that for 20 candle breasts, looking at the ceiling, and after the 20, you can put your head down normal, close your eyes, and then just slow down the breath. But keep breathing in through your nose, and out through your mouth just three or four times until you feel a shift. And what this is going to do, anytime you’re feeling anger, or upset, or anxiety, or just not good, or whatever, or maybe you are already feeling pretty good and you’d like to just feel even better. What this does is it clears out, releases resistance at the cellular level. That means, feelings and stuff that you’ve been holding onto, or whatever it is that’s no longer serving you, you’re clearing that out at the cellular level, and you’re also at the same time raising your energy frequency. So you can literally going from not feeling good to feeling really good, and that’s cool to feel better mentally, emotionally, and physically. But what it also does,. Art, it’s like changing the channel on a radio station. When you’re on one channel, you can’t hear what’s on the other one. So when we base our energy frequency, it’s like going to a higher channel on the radio, on the frequency. So now, all of a sudden you can see things in a new way. All of a sudden you have good thoughts flowing through your mind. All of a sudden you have that answer to that question, or you have that integration, or that creativity is right there, and you feel good, and you feel inspired to do whatever it is that is calling you forward in your life. And it also, of course, affects your relationship with yourself, you feel better within you, and you’re able to have a more meaningful and beautiful connection with those around you.
Art Costello: I’m going to try it. That’s an easy event to create, I mean, to do. I had the thought when we were doing this, wouldn’t it be beautiful if we could do this everyday when school started with kids? Wouldn’t it be? I mean, just think about it. I mean, there’s so much turmoil in the world right now, and I’ve been focusing a lot on thinking about how we can change the attitude of the world? And this seems like a logical way that we could create happiness in people when they’ve started getting anxious, and depressed, and all the things that they do that we could really help them do that is getting people to do it. It’s the resistance to it because they think it looks silly, or that it’s just that it’s woo-woo, all those things that people call it. How do you combat that? Or do you just focus on people that really want to help themselves?
Amy Huentelman: Absolutely, yes. The people that show up, well, I know how to program my subconscious mind. So I honestly, I program my subconscious mind. They only attract people who are ready to hear my message. So you can get in alignment with people who are ready to hear the message because I think you do have to be ready.
Art Costello: Yeah. I do. I agree with that. I think that there’s a time and place for everything, and people have to be open to it. Carl and I were talking about this, I believe in the possibility of everything. I mean, to me, everything is possible. People cross my path is really important to me because they teach me, they’re always teaching me. And like today, you’ve taught me things that I hadn’t ever done before and I’m going to be able to do them. If I was closed minded to it and shut you out, and didn’t give you a chance, then I would be doing a huge disservice. And I know this sounds selfish, but I would actually be doing a huge disservice to myself because I was not letting you in to give me the knowledge that you have. And that’s really important because people need to learn to stop shutting people out, and start listening and learning because it’s what will change this world is when we learn.
“People need to learn to stop shutting people out and start listening and learning. Because what will change this world is when we learn.” - Art Costello Click To TweetAmy Huentelman: I so agree with that. I so agree with that. That’s so important. And I feel like more and more people are so open to hear something new today, because so many more people are ready for change. And I will say to this that it’s good to keep in mind that a lot of things that we have been programmed to believe are true are not actually true.
Art Costello: That’s true.
Amy Huentelman: Happiness has been become very underrated in our society. I feel like people just don’t believe that they can be happy, and they hear things, and maybe they dismiss it. So I would like to invite your listeners and people to just open up and let yourself have a new experience. And this is why I’ve created my Happy Self Connection, it’s less than 10 minutes, it’s free. Because this process that I’m talking about, it really requires having someone guide you there, even though it sounds so simple. But if you can just listen to me and allow me to guide you into this place, because it’s something that you haven’t heard of before, it’s something that you haven’t experienced before, and just allow yourself to go there, and then see what’s possible. Because if you can feel something in a minute, in a few moments, and you can learn how to live from this place. Do you see what I’m talking about? I know you say anything is possible. So this is giving someone an opportunity to experience this for themselves and feel like, Oh, wow. I mean, when I learned that I had the ability to feel good and be happy in this moment, I was so excited and I was like, I got to master this, and this is my mission to teach other people the same. Because this is what happened a couple of years ago, I got to share this real quick. A couple of years ago, I had just manifested like everything that I was asking for, but I wasn’t feeling the happiness that I knew that I could feel. So I knew from the work that I’ve been doing for so many years that there was some programming that was necessary to clear out around that. Because I think on some level, human beings don’t believe that we deserve to be happy, or that we can’t be happy. And if we don’t believe that we can really be happy, this is important to clear out because that will keep me from doing the work that I came here to do, which is the most fulfilling work in the world, and it’s going to make me the happiest, that was my experience.
So a couple of years ago, I was ready to take my work to the next level, but I was still feeling blocked and really that fear of speaking. So I followed my inner guidance that guided me to sit down and connect with myself, and have a conversation with me. And I was guided to ask myself three questions. And the first one was, what am I asking for? And notice I didn’t say what do I want? Because that would go to my head, and my mind will say a million things. It was a deeper question like my soul, right? My true self, what am I asking for on the inside? And the answer I got was, to live in high levels of happiness. And then the second question I was to ask myself was, why am I asking for this? And the answer I received Art was, it’s the way to all I love, and as a way to being and doing what I came here for, which is very important to me. And then the third question I was guided to ask was, what can I do for you? Talking to myself, and the answer I received was, become a Happiness Generator. And because I know how to do the programming, I started doing that writing before I went to sleep because it wasn’t something that I was mentally thinking. All of a sudden that I’m this, no, I knew that to do it from the inside out. So I began programming before I go to sleep at night. I am a happiness generator. I generate happiness. I am happy all the time. And do you know that elevated my energy frequency higher? And this is why I’m so passionate about teaching this, is that all we gotta do is learn how to get in this place, clear out what is in the way and allow ourselves to feel good and be happy, make feeling good, our number one priority and allow ourselves to feel this happiness. Because what that will do, it’s going to put you in touch with who you truly are and the more that you be with who you truly are, and experience yourself, and go within, and have these conversations with you, and I highly, highly, highly, highly recommend taking time to have these conversations with yourself. That’s how you get to know who you are. You will find that you are the most brilliant, beautiful, bright being in the world, and anything is possible for you, and all the answers are inside. And living in these higher frequencies also makes you highly attractive to success. So now you can just show up and be yourself, and people will show up for you.
Art Costello: It’s so cool.
Amy Huentelman: It is so cool.
Art Costello: Because it’s what we seek. It’s really what we seek. I know this is gonna sound weird, but there’s people out there that are hurting very bad. They’re either been in relationships, or I mean, it could be a death of a family member. I mean, I think back to myself when I lost my wife to cancer. I went through a period of about two and a half, three years, where, I mean, grieving was just tough and hard. When you work with people like that who have had great losses or great events in their life, we always hear you have to go through the grieving process. Can your program accelerate people to get through the grieving process? To see things clear? Because I know for my own personal thinking, it took my kids coming to me and saying: “Dad, you promised mom you weren’t going to do this.” For me to really start inner searching again and start asking the question that I asked as a nine year old what was going to become of me. And then once I asked that question, I found the answer again, and just got busy started doing it. And so many people that are hurting, they cocoon up, they don’t go, and they don’t take care of themselves, and all that. Can your program, help those people heal faster through that process? Or do you think they need to actually grieve and go through the process?
Amy Huentelman: Well, it can definitely help clear that intense emotional charge. I’ve lost a few people very close to me and I know how hard that is, it’s like deep, deep pain that we feel. And when I lost my dad, it was before I knew all this, and that was my greatest pain. So for me, I believe, Art, that we are all on our own unique journey, and there are no rules. But to answer your question, it can absolutely alleviate the charge. And what the program does is it gets us back in touch with who we truly are because, again, in any difficult situation, if we’re just in our head thinking about it, that’s a painful place to be in our head thinking about it. I’m not kidding, this process that I’m talking about is like shifting realities, okay? So you can be in a place where you’re seeing things in a very hopeless way, and then within minutes you can shift and be in a place where now you can see, even though this is hard, how it is serving you?
Art Costello: I agree with what you’re saying, because when I lost my wife, and my kids came to me that night, it was 2:00 o’clock in the morning. When I woke up at 2:00 o’clock in the morning, and I got out of bed, and went out onto the lawn of our ranch, and lay on my back, and had a conversation with God, it was like instantaneous change for me when I heard a voice say to me: “I’ve given you all the tools, you just need to apply them.” And at nine years old I had heard “everything’s going to be okay. You just need to become a doer and do things, and be righteous, and believe.” And it was right, when I had fallen into my deepest, deepest, because when I lost my wife, it was probably the deepest, her depression, everything. I mean, I had lost all my worldly goods except that ranch, and all my things that I had worked 63 years for to gain and then to lose it all to a medical event that I had no control over anything. And all I chose to do was do what was right. And she had asked me to pay every medical bill, make sure it was paid, and against the advice of attorneys that said, file medical bankruptcy, I went ahead and paid every bill. So I honored my word to her, I did what was right. But in that instant that I just heard that voice again, say: “I’ve given you all the tools, you just need to use them.” It was so invigorating that I got up, and that’s how Expectation Therapy came about because I started writing, and I started creating, and I gained all that back. And it just, when you get connected to your inner self, your higher self, and your true purpose, great things happen. And any way you can get there, if your program brings people to that quicker, faster, then encourage everybody to do it. I mean, because you’re crazy if you don’t, you. Why would you have a tool available to you and not use it? And that’s how we change the world. I mean, that’s how we change one person at a time, and then pretty soon you’ve got a community, and then you’ve got a congregation, and then you’ve got everybody changing. But, to me, that’s what it’s about, that’s what we need to do.
Amy Huentelman: Yeah. So resonate with everything you’re saying, absolutely. And just to imagine a world where we can all live from the place where you were when you heard that guidance. And that’s what I’m saying here, that we can learn to live from this place. We don’t have to think our way through life. We don’t have to be in doubt, worry and fear. We can be in a place where we trust, and we know, and everything is good, and it’s a beautiful place to live from.
“We don't have to think our way through life. We don't have to be in doubt, worry and fear, we can be in a place where we trust and we know and everything is good. And it's a beautiful place to live from.” - Amy Huentelman Click To TweetArt Costello: Do you have a definition for happiness?
Amy Huentelman: It’s so interesting that you’re saying this because I’m not kidding you. I was taking a walk this morning, and I was kind of, some things were coming to me around that, and most people are, what I hear a lot out there is that happiness is, they’re talking about it being a mindset. And I’m saying that’s not the happiness that I’m talking about here. Happiness is a feeling. Happiness is a feeling, and it’s an experience. But the cool thing is that we can actually program our subconscious mind to have the feeling.
“Happiness is a feeling and it's an experience. But the cool thing is that we can actually program our subconscious mind to have the feeling.” - Amy Huentelman Click To TweetArt Costello: And that’s where I think that is what’s so unique is that most people think that happiness is a mindset that is set in your mind, not in your subconscious, not in your soul, not in your spirit.
Amy Huentelman: And your body.
Art Costello: It’s almost like, for lack of a better word, you’re going to laugh, the whole enchilada, you know what I mean?
Amy Huentelman: Yes, yes, yes, yes. It’s an energy. It’s when you really feel it, it’s invigorating.
Art Costello: Well, we’re all vibrations, and we’re all transformed by the energy that our vibrations put out, you know? So I mean, that’s pretty powerful. So, pretty cool, pretty cool. I’m getting really awakened here. We are such a unique creature. And when we explore it, and we’re open to the possibilities of what this unique creature can think, do, and act, it really changes everything.
Amy Huentelman: It does.
Art Costello: It just really starts because you start to realize that we’re so much more powerful than we think we are. A lot of things that I do are about building self confidence, and self direction, and getting in touch with yourself. I mean, the first step in Expectations Therapy is identified, and that’s getting deep into your soul, and I can see where it would be beneficial for people to actually learn from you how to do that? How to get into their soul, and their spirit, and their body, and create the life that they want.
Amy Huentelman: Anything is possible for us, only connect to ourselves, but when we’re disconnected, that’s when things are hard, okay? And I lived like that for many, many years. So I’m just saying that there’s a new way to live, and it’s where you live from.
Art Costello: I’ve worked in research expectations so much, and one of the realizations that I came to and working with expectations was governments, religion, parents, teachers, everybody uses expectations as a control mechanism. They want to control your expectations. If you’ll listen to advertisers, they want to control your buying habits. Church was wanting to control your personal life. Government wants to control your economy, your money, everything that they can get in you. So for me, it has always been about having your own set of expectations, having core expectations that are deep, deep inside of you, that you are totally in alignment with, that become your mantra. Like mine was the possibility of everything. And no one tells me how to vote, no one tells me, and I know a lot of times when I talk to people, they say: “You sound so selfish.” It’s not selfish, it’s that I want to be true to who I am, who God created, who the great creator of this world created. I want to be everything that he wants me to be to the fullest of my ability. And you can’t do that when you have other people expecting you to live a certain way, be a certain way. You have to live your own way.
Amy Huentelman: And you can’t do that unless you know who you truly are.
Art Costello: Absolutely. Absolutely. And that’s the realization I’ve just come through in our conversation, and these minutes that we’ve spent together is really, really, and I hope the audience is seeing this. This is not about being selfish, or stingy, or any of those things. This is about you, accepting who you are, and living to your expectations, and living to your integrity, living your truth, living to your honesty. This is for YOU to become the best version of yourself. Because when you do that, you find happiness.
Accepting who you are, and living to your expectations and living to your integrity, living to your truth, living to your honesty. This is for you to become the best version of yourself. Because when you do that, you find happiness.” -Art Costello Click To TweetAmy Huentelman: Beautiful.
Art Costello: But it’s the truth, I feel it. I mean, I just feel it in my heart and soul that there’s so many people out there that need to hear this message and start exploring themselves, and really coming to terms and grips with themselves. And don’t be afraid, and don’t live in that sphere of — SPHERE, couldn’t get those words out. I gotta be careful sometimes because I can say some pretty funny things when I get all these words going, but we are who we are, and be happy with who we are, and learn what our powers are. Learn what the powers that we’ve been granted and given because it’s so important.
Amy Huentelman: It’s so important, it’s so important. It’s so important that we take time with who we are, and that we sit with who we are, and that we connect to who we truly are so we can get to know ourselves. And once you get to know yourselves, and I like to say, know yourself. And when you know yourself, like I said, you’ll see how brilliant you are. And then the second step is actually to be brilliant, to allow yourself to be brilliant. That’s another programming that we’ve had, Art, to dim our light. Don’t shine to brighter than your brother, you know what I’m saying? But we’re here to shine our light. We’re here to shine our light and to be brilliant. And when we’re brilliant, we really understand ourselves. When we get to know ourselves, and then we’d be brilliant. Being brilliant means that I know who I am so well, that I know how to make myself feel good, I know what makes me happy, I know what is best for myself, I listened to myself. And when I listened to myself and follow my inner guidance, I don’t know about you, but every time I follow my inner guidance, that always guides me to where I’m asking to go. It’s guiding to me to where I would love to be, and this is how we can have it all. So know yourself, be brilliant, have it all, have it all. What does this mean? All your heart desires, so not talking about ego desires here, there is a distinction. I’m talking about our heart desires, what is calling us forward? What we are here to be and do? And it’s so important that each and every one of us shine our light. It’s so important that we all allow ourselves to be brilliant because this is who we are, and this is how we change the world. This is how we all begin to be happy, and joyful, and free living what we came here for.
“It's so important that we take time with who we are, and that we sit with who we are, and that we connect to who we truly are. So we can get to know ourselves.” - Amy Huentelman Click To TweetArt Costello: I couldn’t think of a better way to end this than what you just said because it is a fundamental truth, and the truth will always prevail, and that is beautiful. I want to give the audience an opportunity to find out about where they can get ahold of you. How are they going to get ahold of you? All of those things, what programs you’ve got going, please tell us.
Amy Huentelman: Yeah, just keep it really simple. I’ve been talking about feeling good and being happy, and I have a beautiful Happy Self Connection for you, it’s a free gift, and please go there and allow yourself to experience it. You’ll see a short video of me talking about what it will do for you, and really help us to experience it. Simply go to HappySelfConnection.com and you’ll find me there.
Art Costello: That is simple, HappySelfConnection.com. I’m writing it down because I’m going there.
Amy Huentelman: Awesome.
Art Costello: Well, it has just been a pleasure, Amy. I just can’t tell you how much it has meant to me to be able to speak with you and Carl today, two of you separately, I think that we ought to sometimes get the three of us on a podcast. I think it would be really cool.
Amy Huentelman: I am so happy you say this because I’m not kidding you as Carl. I was telling him this earlier. It will be fun that would be all three of us could have a conversation, so I’m in. Yes, absolutely.
Art Costello: We’re going to get it scheduled, and folks be on the lookout for this one because it’ll be a great one.
Amy Huentelman: It’s going to be so awesome. All right, you are the best, such a beautiful bright soul yourself. Thank you for your presence in this world, you’re truly making a difference. Thanks for having me on your show.
